Curly Hair Diaries: Find Me The PERFECT Hair Stylist

I can’t believe it’s already MONDAY 😦

Sunday has gone so fast..so very very f.a.s.t. Decided to spend my time productively today and since I’ve been delaying a hair cut, it’s TIME TO GO GET IT.

First stop: Lunch 😀

Wooohooo! My absolute favourite Bak Chor Mee a.k.a minced meat noodle with homemade Ice Lemon Tea at the coffee shop along Tampines Avenue 2. Proudly followed by my Chinese Rojak – You Zhar Kueh only please!

Second Stop: Time to prune the bush!

It’s soo hard to find a good stylist for curly hair I tell you. It’s a bloody constant dilemma for me. I went to one who was good at first when she cropped up my hair. It looked SOMETHING like this..

But since I was one of her only curly-haired customers, I was the one she experimented new hairstyles on once I came in for trimming or reshaping.

She gave me a mullet.

Enough said.

So, I went to Lauren’s which was recommended by my cousin’s right outside Tampines Mrt. So far pretty good reviews when I checked the shop out online. The stylist I went to was Pauline.

I gotta say, her shampoo boy was really good at massaging my head. It felt really damn good ah but when I wanted to take a picture of him he was soo uncomfortable. Not surprising..

YOU’D NEVER EXPECT A BOY OF THAT SIZE (and hairstyle) TO BE SO GENTLE ON MY HEAD 😀

It’s the kind of head massage where your eyelids will automatically close and your head will collapse into THE HANDS of the massager ❤

The cut I wanted was like this sample below – LAYERED. I love it..gives the curls much more character I think.

But I decided to try a different one and went with the layers like the one below.

Warning: Anto has no make up on AGAIN cos it’s a Sunday. Skin needs to rest too you know.. AND what it is in the pic, does not always appear as it is in real life until you style it yourself. READY?!

I LOOK LIKE RICHARD SIMMONS.

Hahahahahhaa come on..look at how many ppl are fussing with my hair!!  Gosh..I normally NEVER loosen my curls, I like ’em big and well-defined; plus it stops the frizz. For some reason, stylists in SG love loosening it!! Why would you let it explode to this whilst you cut it.. I HAVE NO IDEA.

The good thing is, the cut was what I wanted 😀 Now, I need to let it grow out for a week+ for it to really take the form of that pic. That’s just how curly hair is my kittens, it needs to GROW OUT into that style you chose.

Based on this hair cut, I’d definitely come back again. She even helped me blend in the old ugly layers the last hair stylist had ruined.  A+ just for that!

    Hi,

I have curly hair too and its really long. I need to get it chopped. How much does it cost for you?

    • Hey..How short you gonna chop it off? I cropped up my hair once it when it went to the waist! Too hot!!

When I went to Lauren’s, it only costed me $28. Not too bad compared to going to a specialist all the time.

      Give it a try.

you are too cute anto. richard simmons all.

  4. Cindy says:

Aw, you are much cuter than Richard Simmons. 😉

As for the curly hair dilemma… I completely agree with you! My hair is naturally curly too, but it can’t decide if it wants to curl or frizz out like a bad 80s perm. *sigh*
